It could have been worse

Or could it? It’s one of those odd phrases that everybody uses in a disaster and throws about them as if it’s some sort of shield against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. It could have been worse. I’m sure it could but it also could have been better or just not happened at all. Floods and sudden storms and not, apparently, a tornado. But technical classifications aside; the subway flooded, which puts pay to the idea of my striking out for a nice park or two during my lunch. It’s a shame really but can nevertheless wait. Especially since Croquet is likely to send out a search party or two when I do attempt it.
It could have all been worse really but at least this Long Clawson blue stilton is particularly nice. Must get some more of that.
